Integration of steel strip specialist H. D. Lenzen

The acquisition of H. D. Lenzen Bandverzinkung GmbH & Co. KG was completed through a share deal by Iserlohn-based Knauf Interfer Cold Rolling GmbH, which acquired a majority stake in the Halver based Galvano Gesellschaft Brückmann mbH & Co. KG, a steel strip finishing specialist, at the same time. Peter and Philipp Plobst, the current Managing Directors, will remain associated with the companies as shareholders and in leadership roles.

Both companies’ operations will be integrated into Knauf Interfer’s Business Unit Steel, which will now have a modified structure – encompassing the ‘Steel Service’ and ‘Functional Metals’ Divisions. The product ranges, expertise and logistics capacities of the Steel Service Centres, the blanking facility and the Benelux sales office will continue to form the Steel Service Division. The activities of Knauf Interfer Cold Rolling and the newly integrated companies will be consolidated within the ‘Functional Metals’ Division.

H.D. Lenzen, which was founded in 1985 and has two high-performance sites in Hagen, is today recognised as one of the world’s leading suppliers of electrolytically galvanised precision steel strip. The company, which has been repeatedly recognised as Supplier of the Year by renowned customers, serves international demand from sectors including the automotive, furniture, electrical and construction industries. Galvano has been refining metal strips at its Halver site for 100 years, making it one of the most experienced and distinguished surface treatment specialists. Knauf Interfer Cold Rolling focuses on the production of cold-rolled steel across a wide range of grades, as well as electrolytic tin-plating and galvanising at its Iserlohn Giebel plant.

‘With the portfolio, sites and capacities of the H. D. Lenzen Group, we can expand our range of products and services and structure our supply chains even more precisely to meet demand,’ commented Domenico Marino, Member of the Executive Board / COO of Knauf Interfer SE and Managing Director of Knauf Interfer Cold Rolling GmbH. ‘This strengthens our position as a high-performing and independent player in the steel market in the long term.’
